Day 4

So I started out this class by testing the pixels, to make sure that they were operating properly. Arduino has a function in it that allows you to test the pixels with a pre-written code. I tested one pixel, rather than setting up all four, and it worked without a hitch. From here, I set everything up, with the GPS and one pixel with alligator clips, rather than sewing it. I also altered the code to be set to the location of where I tested the GPS so I wouldn't have to be walking all around to get a pixel response.

With the alligator clips, I took everything outside to test it, and sure enough, after a few minutes of acquiring satellites, the GPS light stopped blinking, however, rather than the attached neo pixel lighting up, the pixel on the actual Flora board lit up, which was interesting, but it did seem to work, because as I walked back inside, the GPS lost satellites and the pixel turned off. I think what I will have to do is change the acceptable distance from 20 meters to something smaller, like 5 meters and test out the pixel on the Flora board again. Once I am positive that it works, I will revert back to worrying about getting the attached pixels to work.
